The BEST things to do in Bundaberg
Welcome to Rum City – the town whose spirit will shine through everywhere you go.
From aqua blue beaches, to bustling cafes Bundaberg is the town where there is something for everyone.
For those who don’t mind a tipple or two, you’re definitely in the right place. There is the iconic Bundaberg Rum Distillery where you can take a guided tour to learn about all things rum. Then there is Ohana Cider House just down the road, where you can meet the makers at Queensland’s first cider house. Take a guided tour or simply join the owners at the bar for a taste of their huge range of ciders, fruit ciders, tropical wines and liqueurs (you have got to try their rosé cider and pineapple wine!). Over the other side of town, you’ll find Kalki Moon – a family owned and operated boutique distillery specialising in gin, vodkas and liqueurs. For the craft beer lovers, there is also The Brewhouse, serving up Bargara Brewing Co beers.
For the nature lovers, you can’t beat what Bundaberg has to offer. Take a stroll around the Botanic Gardens and see all sorts of fruit trees loving the subtropical climate. For something more adventurous, jump aboard the Reef Empress and explore the Southern Great Barrier Reef with the crew from The Lady Musgrave Experience. If you time your visit right, you may even be able to Splitters Farm, nestled on the idyllic Splitters Creek. Here you can meet some adorable farm animals on a guided tour with owners Ash and Carly Clark.
For the foodies, your bellies will be thanking you after a visit to Bundaberg. For the world’s best cold drip latte alongside your eggs benny, you can’t beat Leaf n Bean on Bundy’s café strip. For some decadent gelato, check out local favourites Alowishus Delicious. For a big bowl of hearty pasta try Casablanca on See. For some iconic local drinks, you can’t beat Bundaberg Brewed Soft Drinks – the home of Bundaberg Ginger Beer.
Bundaberg really is the town with it all. Whether you’re here for a long time, or just a good time, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what this little down by the beach has to offer.
